This small, lively tapas bar specialises in excellent cheese and charcuterie from the small Catalan village of Oix, along with more outré fare such as salmon sashimi with a coffee reduction. The wine list is steadily increasing and now has around 30 suggestions, all of them good. Being so close to the Palau de la Música, the bar can get packed in the early evening before concerts.

Although the local promises "atypical" tapas, the food is not sophisticated at all and the portions are very small for their price. On top of that, the service was very bad. The waitress just forgot about us (we were the only four people in the restaurant) and we had to go outside, where she was talking to a guy and "beg" her to bring us the bill.

Excellent. Found it by chance after a concert at Palau de la Musica. Open late. Small but sweet !

we spotted this place thanks to the TimeOut App when we visited the Catalonyan Music Museum which is just in front of the restaurant. The tapa's were extremely tasty, fresh and original. The smooth ambiance was cosy and friendly; A small but warm and very good place to spend some hours relaxing, eating and drinking. Top!

My girlfriends and I went to Barcelona for a bachelorette party, and one of the highlights for us by far was the meal we experienced at El Bitxo. The owner was extremely accommodating (we had a late reservation). We told her we were up for anything, and the food she put in front of us was A-MAZING. The salmon with coffee reduction, the foie gras with fig jam, tuna salad, and the CHEESE. She also did a wonderful job of pairing wines with the tastings, and even let us stay late as we opened bottles of champagne. Unbelievable experience and I would fully endorse that anyone pay this little gem a vist.

This was by far one of our most pleasant memories from our week in Barcelona. The restaurant was rustic and cozy but also had a touch of elegance. The owner was helpful and friendly and after we told her we were open to anything she might suggest a beautiful and delicious dining experience unfolded before us. We started with a crudo style black tea marinated cod served with a side of fresh garlic paste. Next up, a foie pate served with fig jam, macerated onions and fresh greens followed by a helping of fresh goat cheese with black olive marmalade and crisp arugula tossed in a savory vinaigrette. We finished with a bowl of chili con carne and a couple of pieces of complimentary dark chocolate. We were still pickled from our libations the night before so we didn't explore the wine or cava offerings. I wish I lived down the street from this wonderful and inspired restaurant so I could go there more than once in a lifetime. Adios!
