La Mercè 2016: Fireworks shows

The 'festa del foc' brings together various fireworks shows to colour the Barcelona sky for three nights with the 19th International Pyrotechnic Festival. Friday at the Espigón del Gas at Barceloneta beach with the Soir de Fêtes from this year's guest city, Paris. With 25 years of experience under their belt in the world of pyrotechnics, they put on a show with emotion as the main ingrdient. On Saturday, also at Barceloneta beach, it's El Vaquero Pirotécnicos, a Colombian company that's been active since the 1950s and that combines modern with traditional fireworks displays full of shapes and colours. Closing the festa del foc is the traditional Piromusical de la Mercè, which closes out the Festa Major in Avenida Maria Cristina with a show full of fun light and music, featuring 'chanson française' to pay homage to the guest city, and music to remember two greats we lost this year, David Bowie and Prince.
