Argentina's constitution was inspired by its US equivalent. In a similar spirit of benign plagiarism, the Palacio del Congreso is a dome-and-column affair designed to resemble Washington's bicameral legislature. Depending on your architectural and/or political preferences, the Palace is either an awe-inspiring shrine to the democratic principle or an over-elaborate wedding cake.
Completed in 1906, the Congress building's very extravagant interior, which includes an extensive network of basements and bunkers, can be visited by guided tour. (The advertised tour schedule is notoriously unreliable; call in advance if you want to arrange a guided visit.) Note that all 72 Senate seats have a button for direct calls to the cafeteria.
