If you haven't yet had the pleasure of sampling Japanese-Peruvian food, believe us when we say that you couldn't do better than a trip to Sipan, a cool, classy restaurant that continues to head the downtown gastronomic scene. Named after a tomb discovered in northern Peru in 1987, this atmospheric pisco bar/restaurant serves up sparklingly delicious cuisine that's both creative and market-fresh.

The selection of spicy appetisers is outstanding. You'll find choritos a la Chalaca (mussels mixed with corn and onion), octopus in olive oil and the creamy spud classic: papas a la huancaína. For mains, we suggest a combination of salmón al maracuyá (salmon with passion fruit), mixed ceviche, and one of the delicious tacu-tacus washed down with a passion fruit Pisco sour.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I was in Buenos Aires only for a few days but went twice. A must.

This is a GREAT place. All dishes are for sharing such are the sizes (staff warn you about this straight away), but the quality if top. Best ceviche I've had outside Peru. Will come back in when in BA again.
