In 1991 Philip Boyd, former principal dancer with CAPAB (now Cape Town City Ballet), started teaching ballet to historically disadvantaged children in the township of Gugulethu. Since then this non-profit social upliftment organisation has blossomed into a highly esteemed dance school, producing top-notch professional dancers. The Dance for All Youth Company, boasting its own signature style with a neoclassical/Afro-contemporary repertoire, was launched in 2005.
