Jimmy Whispers + Twin Hits + Tim Kinsella + Fee Lion

Lincoln Hall, November 4
After serenading a crowd at Pitchfork Music Festival while wearing a dress last summer, local lo-fi pop crooner Jimmy Whispers returns to the stage to present new material with the help of a backing band and some special guests. Whispers promises the show will be a "one time only theatrical experience"—perhaps he's written a rock opera? Local supergroup Twin Hits (which features members of Twin Peaks and Today's Hits), Joan of Arc frontman Tim Kinsella and electro-folk act Fee Lion open the show. ($10, 18+)

Zombi + Pinkish Black + Trevor de Brauw

Empty Bottle, November 5
Named after the title under which Dawn of the Dead was released in Italy, Pittsburgh prog-rock outfit Zombi have a predilection for spooky, synthesizer-driven soundtracks (and arrive just in time for the week after Halloween). Armed with a drum kit, a bass guitar and an array of vintage electronics, the duo composes twisting instrumentals that wouldn't sound out of place in a John Carpenter film. The pair is joined by Relapse labelmates Pinkish Black, who share an interest in crafting retro-styled cinematic soundscapes. Pelican guitarist Trevor de Brauw will also perform. ($12, 21+)

Mac DeMarco + Alex Calder + The Courtneys

Metro, November 7
Mac DeMarco disclosed the address of his New York City home during the final seconds of his recent mini-album Another One, inviting fans to come visit him for a cup of coffee. For anyone who can't make the trip to the East Coast, the Canadian songwriter's performance at the Metro might be the closest you'll come to discussing the inspiration behind his latest collection of laid-back tunes in person. Also on the bill: DeMarco's former bandmate (and current bedroom pop purveyor) Alex Calder and Vancouver garage rockers the Courtneys. ($25, 18+)
