At weekends, this glorious old pub is packed to the gills with lawyers getting squiffy and quoting Blackstone and law gossip at each other. If this doesn't appeal - and why would it? - you'll be pleased to know it's at its best during the week, when all is quiet, you can gaze at your reflection in the polished wood and enjoy a pleasant, contemplative drink. In summer and on rugby days it's mayhem again, with hordes of drinkers spilling out on to the street.
