Justifiably renowned for its excellent golf course overlooking Portmarnock beach, this hotel's emphasis is firmly on conservative luxury. All the sumptuously decorated bedrooms have either a bay view or a view of the links, and you can dine at the excellent Osborne restaurant. The relaxing Jameson bar, with panelled walls and glowing fires, was truly designed for drinking whiskey.
The hotel caters equally for business and pleasure, with understated but efficient service; if you're here for the golf, you can be sure your outings to one of the first courses developed in Ireland will be well organised. And if you are a golf widow, you should find plenty of compensations in the range of relaxing treatments and beautifying therapies - including full- and half-day packages - on offer at the in-house Oceana spa.
