Update (Oct 28): With the four new stations opening on October 31, all rides between these stations will be free for a month, according to RapidKL. Single-journey tokens will be provided at service counters at Sri Petaling and at the new stations, or you can just use your MyRapid or Touch 'n Go card. The new stations will also be using new six-car trains (dubbed AMY) which operate under a new signalling system that's being developed for the entire Ampang Line, so if you're heading to Masjid Jamek from Awan Besar, you'll need to get off at Sri Petaling and switch trains for now until the system has been standardised, which should be completed before March next year. No pain, no gain right?

The Land and Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has given RapidKL operators Prasarana the green light to operate four new stations in the LRT Extension Project (LEP) on October 31, which means Puchong, we're finally connected by rail. To a part of you for now.

Awan Besar, Kampung Muhibbah, Alam Sutera and Bandar Kinrara 5 (BK5) make up the four of 12 new stations in the Ampang Line extension opening on October 31, while the rest of the stations will be fully operational by March 2016. Aside from Bandar Kinrara, the extension will connect several key areas in Puchong (including IOI Puchong Jaya, Taman Perindustrian and Bandar Puteri) and will end at Putra Heights, which will be integrated with the Kelana Jaya Line whose own extension will be completed by June 2016. According to a report by The Star, the BK5 station will have a dedicated park-and-ride facility. The extended line will also be introducing the new six-car trains which will be equipped with 'modern features such as a dynamic route display'. Fancy.

With the LRT extension and upcoming MRT, maybe it's time you got yourself a MyRapid card? Speaking of which, Prasarana has announced that it will now calculate fares by distance.

In the meantime, take a look at the Awan Besar station, the first new stop after Sri Petaling.
