Couch potatoes will be glad to know that online video streaming service Netflix has recently announced their expansion to over 130 countries including Malaysia. The basic package starts from RM33 and the premium at RM51 with a first month free trial for all packages.

Before you get too excited, just know that this doesn’t exactly mean that you’ll have access to Netflix’s complete US catalogue. Some shows such as ‘House of Cards’ and ‘The Simpsons’ are not yet available. Netflix has also mentioned that it will start producing original content in French, Italian and Portugese next year, so who knows, maybe in the long run even Malaysians can create Netflix Original series as well.

Of course, Netflix is not the only video streaming service in the country. There’s iflix which also has a pretty extensive catalogue including some of our favourite local shows such as ‘Kopitiam’, ‘Kami’ and ‘Gol & Gincu’ at only RM8 per month. In the meantime, if you do decide to start your Netflix free trial, we recommend ‘Master of None’, ‘Narcos’ and ‘Jessica Jones’.
