A very fine collection of Hokusai's remarkable Waterfall series given to LACM by the eccentric LA collector Max Palevsky. See here for a print by Hokusai"s great pupil Hokkei – http://www.japaneseprintappraisal.com/2007/05/katsushika-hokkei.html japaneseprintappraisal.com

Time Out says
LACMA already possessed a handful of renowned Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai's iconic prints in its permanent collection. But now, thanks to a recent donation from late art collector Max Palevsky's collection, the museum has the entire set of Hokusai's A Tour of Waterfalls in the Provinces series to add to its holdings. See the set at this exhibition of the mutedly vibrant color woodblock prints, as well as pages from woodlock-printed books and the artist's preparatory drawings.
