The LA Conservancy offers a wonderful time-machine trip by screening classic films in Downtown's grand old movie palaces throughout the month of June. Tonight's feature is West Side Story. A classic reminder that the best rumbles tend to be highly choreographed, that if you want to join a gang, you'd better learn to snap and of how pretty being in love can make you feel, this Romeo and Juliet-inspired landmark musical won ten Oscars. 53 years old and still as fresh as ever, it's worth checking out Maria (Natalie Wood) and Tony's (Richard Beymer) romance on the big screen—even if you've seen it more times than you can count. In addition, hear actor George Chakiris—he played Bernardo—in conversation with dance critic Debra Levine. The fest's shows are known to sell out before the series opens, so get your tickets online ahead of time.
