As the first British monarch ever to be photograped, Queen Victoria has captured the eye of filmmakers since the dawn of cinema. This week long Getty Center film series celebrates the breadth of film work that has duly dramatized the life, feats and suitors of this enigmatic royal. Beginning on February 15, the program features one televised play and four films, from the rarely screened 1937 picture, Victoria the Great, to the 2009 flick, The Young Victoria. The series complements the exhibition, A Royal Passion: Queen Victoria and Photography. Admission is free, but be sure to snag your spot by making online reservations here.
