The best Manhattan Beach hotels

These Manhattan Beach hotels cater to beachgoers and airline travelers alike in the beautiful oceanfront city

There are surprisingly few Manhattan Beach hotels considering how close the upscale city is to the ocean and the airport. You'll find a handful along busy Sepulveda Boulevard, barely a 10-minute drive from LAX, but if you're looking to stay near the beach, your options are limited to only a couple (and only one with a proper rooftop bar). All that said, beachgoers, airline travelers and anyone looking for a weekend getaway shouldn't have any trouble finding a place to stay among these Manhattan Beach hotels.

This sparkling property hasn't been solely responsible for making Manhattan Beach a destination, but its influence has been huge. The 38 stylish guest rooms make great use of the space: Multi-purpose tables can be rolled back and forth over the beds for breakfast or for use as a desk, while all rooms have vast spa-baths, free Wi-Fi and color-adjustable chromatherapy lighting. Downstairs is a big central courtyard and the slick Zinc lounge; upstairs is the handsome Skydeck, complete with a bijou pool.

Relax in the bright sea tones and charming courtyard of this 127-room Manhattan Beach hotel. Though it's more than a mile from the beach—the hotel offers bike rentals—the Belamar is just around the corner from the Manhattan Village mall as well as the Point, the swanky new El Segundo shopping center, and an optimistic 10 minutes from LAX. Rooms come equipped with free Wi-Fi, and elsewhere on the property you'll find meeting spaces, a small skylit pool and the on-site Second Story Restaurant.

Though not quite on the beach, this low-rise, hilltop hotel is about as close as you can get to the ocean in Manhattan Beach. The Sea View Inn is situated amongst low-key cafes on the city's calmer north end. Some rooms have been redone with a more modern aesthetic, though others feel decidedly more motel-like. Rooms facing Highland Avenue may be a little noisy, but larger rooms and suites come with private balconies and picturesque ocean views. Bikes, beach accessories and Wi-Fi all come included.

This inn on the southern end of Manhattan Beach may look like a typical roadside motel from the outside, but inside rooms are clean, modern and cozy. The 22-room hotel offers free parking and Wi-Fi, as well as three different room configurations.

Manhattan Beach's massive Marriott certainly caters to a business crowd—there's a nine-hole golf course on-site and a Houston's around the corner—but leisure seekers should enjoy the outdoor pool, pet-friendly rooms and hotel bar. The hotel sits across the street from the ArcLight and a few blocks from the Metro Green Line (which, unfortunately, doesn't serve many typical tourist destinations). Upgrade to a room with a balcony for golf course views.

Turn off of Sepulveda Boulevard and you'll be greeted by these suburban-style townhouses. Other amenities include three outdoor barbecue areas, a pool deck with two hot tubs and free breakfast and parking.
