Miami needs no excuse to party: from the traditional to the tacky, the city is fast on its feet when it comes to celebrations. Be aware that some of the bigger events – Art Deco Weekend, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the Miami Book Fair and the Miami International Boat Show – take place on holiday weekends and draw huge crowds.
The two most popular events – Art Basel and the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival – have hotels reserved for years in advance and are pretty much city holidays. Expect traffic.

Some of the bigger events charge admission fees. Many street festivals are free to attend, but you will shell out cash for food and drink.
