Parc Floral Phoenix

Parc Floral Phoenix review Rate it

Just a short distance from the airport and bang next door to the Musée des Arts Asiatiques, this lush expanse of beautifully preserved Mediterranean flora is also home to a large population of local birdlife. Rare species of duck, black swans and pelicans have made their home on the shores of the park's lake, while more than 2,500 species of indigenous plants spread through its 20 separate gardens. The enormous 'green diamond', one of Europe's largest glasshouses, provides a range of suitably steamy habitats for a wide variety of tropical and subtropical plants, exquisitely delicate orchids and flora from equatorial rainforests. Temporary themes and exhibitions cover a range of topics from spiders to sculpture, while strictly ecological issues are screened (in the form of a rolling programme of documentaries) and debated every month at the 'soirée environnement'. Entry to the screenings is free (for details, call 04 93 55 33 33).
