The best hotels in Nice to book in 2026, from budget to luxury

Right in the heart of Nice, Maison Albar - Le Victoria offers an oasis of cool, contemporary elegance just minutes from the city’s most iconic sights. The interiors – all jazz-age glamour in black, gold and marble – give a nod to the Riviera’s 1930s heyday while feeling thoroughly modern. There’s a rooftop pool, a smart bar, and a soothing spa in the basement (plus a 24/7 gym for the committed). Rooms come with marble bathrooms, Nespresso machines and views over either the city or sea. Ours had a very nice balcony looking out over palm trees and the Côte d'Azur in the distance, ideal for a morning espresso. 

The hotel’s sixth-floor restaurant, Taulissa, is a local destination in its own right. Overseen by Michelin-starred chef Glenn Viel, the menu is refined without being fussy. Breakfast is a buffet affair with a buffet spread and a la carte options. Add in rooftop cocktails and a few quiet lengths in the pool and you might never want to leave – even with designer boutiques and the Promenade des Anglais on your doorstep.

Concierge service is warm, efficient and impressively knowledgeable – they’ll even sort you out with beach towels and post-checkout storage for damp swimwear. In short, Le Victoria brings low-key luxury to one of the Riviera’s most polished cities, without being overly flashy. 

Time Out tip: The rather lovely Marché aux Fleurs Cours Saleya is right around the corner, a flower market that dates back to 1897.

With its knowingly gaudy décor, rotating line-up of DJs and cheeky X-rated extras, Mama Shelter Nice is a hotel that knows its clientele. Opened in 2024, the 102-room property invites guests to “Work & Celebrate”, so if that's what you're in Nice for, look no further. You'll find digital nomads switching between Zoom calls and cocktails throughout the day. And, all for a very affordable price, too.

Time Out tip: Ask the receptionists for tips. They gave us great advice on where to get socca, a Nice delicacy.

For Côte d'Azur glamour, Anantara Plaza is the ultimate place to stay. Sitting in a prime Belle Époque building, minutes from the Promenade des Anglais, this five-star landmark (reborn in 2022 after a slick four-year refurb) mixes old-world grandeur with calm, contemporary interiors. Rooms are sleek and soothing, with espresso machines, plush bedding, luxe bath products and, if you’re lucky, a private terrace with sea views stretching from Castle Hill to the western horizon. Service is faultless from the moment you step through the door (quite literally: we were greeted with a cold flannel and mocktail on arrival). 

The real showstopper here is Anantara Plaza’s rooftop. This is where you’ll tuck into a next-level breakfast buffet (think Champagne, juices, croissants and an entire cabinet of cheese), or dine à la carte at SEEN – the hotel’s swish rooftop restaurant by chef Olivier da Costa, and the views are pretty special. 

There’s no pool, but you do get access to Ruhl Plage, one of Nice’s best private beaches. Prefer to stay in? Head to the basement spa for a massage, hammam, or glow-up facial, or hit the 24-hour gym if you’re feeling virtuous. Step outside and you’re moments from Place Masséna, the old town, luxury boutiques and flower markets. The whole city’s walkable, and trams will zip you to the museums or train station in minutes. When you pictured your trip to Nice, it probably looked something like this.

Built into the cliff at the quiet end of Nice’s iconic Promenade des Anglais, La Pérouse is one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it hotels – but once you do spot the tucked-away entrance, you’re in for a peaceful stay above the city’s bustle. Reopened in 2023 after a refresh, the hotel has continued to embrace its eccentric charm, blending old-school Riviera elegance with a few modern, artsy touches. The vibe is calm, low-key and just the right amount of fancy, with knockout sea views from most rooms and a rooftop solarium for your evening glass of wine. 

Rooms are cosy, most with private balconies or terraces facing the Med, and the layout is full of character, winding around the cliffside and opening onto a hidden terrace complete with lemon trees, sun loungers and a small outdoor pool carved right into the rock. It’s also home to Le Patio, the on-site restaurant where you can linger over a quiet breakfast or return later for a more refined dinner by chef Damien Andrews. When things are this peaceful, you might just forget you’re literally minutes from Nice’s lively old town.

You’re a short walk from Castle Hill (Colline du Château), Nice’s best panoramic spot, and within easy reach of the bars, markets and restaurants of the old town. It’s far enough removed for a good night’s sleep, but close enough for a quick stumble home. But honestly? Block out some time to just stay put. The pool, terrace and lemon-scented calm are worth savouring.

This eye-wateringly cheap but beautiful Belle Époque hotel crams 24 diminutive rooms into a guesthouse on quiet, leafy streets a couple blocks from the beach. It would be hard to find a French period hotel so spotlessly rendered anywhere in France. From the Toile-de-Jouy fabrics and prints to the sepia-tinted photographs scattered throughout, a stay at the Rivoli is to step into a scaled down chateau with the convenience of the French Riviera on your doorstep. And did we mention the price?

Every room comes equipped with Wi-Fi, air-con, a kettle and tea and coffee supplies (no pod machine), as well as a hairdryer, own-brand toiletries and a telly. There’s daily housekeeping, a concierge and 24-hour front desk service, and a seperate complimentary tea and coffee station in the lobby for when you’re passing through. The buffet-style breakfast is an additional charge, served downstairs in the more casual dining section or outside in the hotel’s garden. Feeling lazy? You can pay a little extra to have it brought up as room service. 

In terms of food, though, that’s your lot. There’s no restaurant on site (although the lobby café has a few snacks to go with your tea), so you’ll be better off exploring the many, many restaurants and cafés nearby. But starting at €60 or less for a room, you’ll have plenty of cash to spare on dining.

Nice on a budget? Yep, it’s actually possible – and AMMI is proof. Scattered across five central locations, this mini hotel group offers affordable apartment-hotels in genuinely excellent locations. We stayed at Aparthotel AMMI Vieux Nice, where rooms go for under £100 a night, and you get the works included: kitchenettes with Nespresso machines, toasters, kettles and enough gear to whip up simple meals (goodbye, €18 omelettes). The building’s unassuming – just a coded door and steep stairs up to reception – but once inside, it’s clean, cheerful and surprisingly quiet given its central spot. Just be warned: there’s no lift. 

AMMI Vieux Nice backs right onto the city’s very pretty old town, meaning you’re seconds from shady alleyways, Provençal markets and some of the Riviera’s most charming architecture. Brasserie Gaglio, just a few doors down, is where you’ll be sent if you opt for the hotel’s modest breakfast (think coffee, juice, pastries and omelettes). Beyond that, there’s everything from Niçoise street food to sushi, tapas and the top-value plat du jour at Chez Acchiardo. Walk nine minutes to plunge into the Med from the Promenade des Anglais, or head uphill to Parc de la Colline du Château for knockout views.

This isn’t a luxury stay – more like a clever base for exploring the Riviera without forking out hundreds a night. There’s no restaurant, spa or rooftop bar, but the staff are kind, the rooms are comfy, and the location is unbeatable.

Time Out tip: Heading to the beach? Take advantage of the hotel’s parasols and windbreaks, which are completely free for guests.

This effortlessly chic hotel is the kind you’ll somehow only find in France – just look at that lovely façade. Situated right next to the Promenade du Paillon, Notre-Dame Basilica and Place Massena, the Hôtel Apollinaire is basically in the thick of it all, making hitting the tourist hotspots incredibly easy. 

There’s a total of 95 rooms here (92 standard rooms and three luxury suites), and all of them have air-con, a minibar, a safe, a flat-screen telly, Wi-Fi and coffee and tea facilities. The design delivers on cool, with simply designed bedrooms and airy, welcoming shared spaces (where you can fill up your bottle from the complimentary water station). Family-friendly rooms are available (with cots and the likes), pets are allowed and there’s a shared games room for all hotel guests to use. Daily housekeeping is included, and you can add on laundry services, ironing and the likes for an extra charge.

There’s no pool, but you will find a spa lounge, Turkish steam bath, a fitness room, and free-to-use massage chairs, which is fun. If you want a proper massage, staff can help you book a full-body one from an external company, who will come to the hotel. A study in contemporary elegance, if you’re in Nice more for the city vibes than the beach ones, consider booking here. 

Time Out tip: Durandy tram stop is right outside, and it takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go – even directly to Nice airport.

The Jay is a quirky but super stylish and amazingly priced Art Deco-style apartment-hotel located five minutes from the beaches of Promenade des Anglais. After all, who wants to stay at any old hotel when you can throw on your glad rags and dive into the Roaring Twenties? A cascade of greens and turquoises, velvet textures and zigzag patterns, it’s easy to imagine you might bump into the Great Gatsby quaffing champers at the downstairs bar – he’s who the hotel’s name pays homage to, after all. 

Here, you get all the perks of a hotel with the freedom of an apartment stay – there’s 38 studios, apartments and family suites on offer, and they’re available for couples or families of up to four. Most (not all) units include a kitchenette (with a microwave, fridge and toaster, as well as a stovetop). Just note that use of this kitchen means paying an extra €30 per stay, which is fair enough: it just means housekeeping know to clean the kitchenware afterwards, and you don’t have to do any dishes. There’s a buffet breakfast (not included), if you don’t feel like cooking.

Time Out tip: At the ‘Yummy Corner’ bar and lounge on-site, there’s a happy hour from 6-8pm every day. During happy hour, you can do a whiskey tasting for free!

A grand old dame gently fraying at the edges, the Negresco is a beachfront landmark that’s seen a century of artists, royals and rock stars indulge its opulence. This is basically a vast living museum – its 99 rooms and 25 suites are a stroll through the grandest French history with works dating all the way back to Louis XIII. Round your stay off with a Provençal dinner in the two-Michelin star Le Chantecler and choose from its 15,000-strong wine list. Grand doesn’t even come close.

Crowning the Promenade des Anglais with its distinctive pastel-pink dome, the Negresco has stood watch over Nice for more than a century. You don’t need to check in to take in its grandeur – the wood-panelled bar mixes up excellent cocktails, from sharp Negronis to their signature Royal Negresco, made with Kirsch, raspberry syrup and Champagne.

But the true draw is Le Chantecler, where chef Virginie Basselot crafts meticulous, seasonal plates that celebrate the region’s produce with finesse and flair. Whether you opt for one of the set menus – including the surprise-led ‘Les Secrets de Virginie’ – or go à la carte, it’s a feast for the eyes as much as the palate. Ask for a window table at lunch: it’s part of the magic.

Time Out tip: Each room at this hotel is styled according to a different period, from Louis XV to Art Deco – if you nerd out over that kind of thing, do request a specific room when you book.

This Italian-styled, Swiss-named boutique hotel at the base of the Promenade des Anglais may sound confused, but there’s no doubting the clarity (or quality) of its views. Ramp up your tan time and romance factor in equal measure from the balcony of a Supérieure or Privilège room, overlooking the Baie des Anges. Sip a Le Suisse house cocktail (champagne based, naturally) and look down on the masses below, fighting for space as you bask in the smug solitude of your sun-drenched bird’s eye view. The fools!

There are 38 rooms in total here (including just one suite), and every single one offers rather lovely Baie des Anges sea views. Rooms range from ‘Tradition’ to ‘Privilege’ (which is sort of hilarious) – if you’re in one of the high-end rooms, you’ll get offered a glass of champagne on arrival. Only the ‘privileged few’, though. Get it?

Food is standard buffet fare, served downstairs in the ground floor restaurant (try and get a table by the window for very nice sea views), or you can get it brought up to your room for a small extra charge. No pets are allowed, sadly, but you can get some family-friendly extras for your room at no extra cost. Area wise, you’re very near the old town and directly on the Baie des Anges, so this is a particularly good spot for a beachy holiday. 

Time Out tip: The hotel has a deal on with nearby Opera Beach, where hotel guests can rent a deckchair, parasol and cabin for an entire day for €22.

Eccentric, creative (read: a bit shabby) Windsor is a family-run artist’s retreat that’s more laidback than your average Nice hotel. But it’s got a hell of a lot of character: 30 of its 57 rooms are decorated – often crazily – by respected local artists making every stay unique, whether it’s Tintin or Matisse adorning your walls. Its full name is actually Le Windsor: Jungle Art Hotel, by the way. But rooms aren’t just fun to look at: they all come with air-con, tea and coffee and a kettle (no pods), a TV, ironing board and mini-bar, slippers, toiletries and Wi-Fi. 

The garden is as wild and exotic as the interiors, where you can swim in the pool or swig cocktails to birdsong from the sizable aviary. It’s pretty tropical, decked out with huge trees and sun loungers, and the pool is heated from May to October if that’s your kind of thing. The hotel is owned by the Redolfi family, and it goes back 80 years, so there’s a hell of a lot of history here. It strikes a balance between silly and fun, and proper, polite service – make sure to get chatting to the staff, who have plenty of recommendations.

Yelo Jean Médecin is a stylish and practical base with clean, elegant rooms in the heart of the city, that puts you within walking distance of all the main points of interest, such as the emblematic Garibaldi Square, Castle Hill and Centenaire Beach. It’s a perfect respite for those coming to Nice for work, leisure or both. Rooms are equipped with Chromecast for streaming your favourite shows, and you’ll find a dedicated workspace in the sun-filled lounge for when duty calls. 

You’re also in an ideal area, with Avenue Jean Médecin on your doorstep. Don’t book anything for your first day, just head out for a few hours and dip into shops and markets – this is the place to try your first socca (a chickpea flatbread snack: Nice’s local delicacy). Then, spend your evenings roaming the Promenade des Anglais before perching yourself on a bench with your holiday read.

Time Out tip: There’s an app, Sonder, you can download when you arrive. From there you can check in, ask staff questions and request the toothbrush you forgot (again).
