Widely regarded as one of the best seafood restaurants in Nice, L'Âne Rouge enjoys a suitably nautical location right on the harbour's edge. As a result, the food could only be fresher if you caught it yourself. Fish is delivered daily, vegetables are grown nearby and the delicate dishes that chef Michel Devillers creates from these ingredients are mouth-watering. (Sautéed sea bream with onion chutney and artichokes à la barigoule being a typical example.) And for those who might pale at the prices, there's a bistro version a few doors along at sister restaurant Bistrot Canaille Hit.
