Acchiardo review 3 Users say 4/5 Rate it

Mr and Mrs Acchiardo run this wonderful local restaurant with the help of their two children, much to the delight of its many regulars and those tourists lucky enough to have been pointed in the right direction. Wood panelling and gingham tablecloths make for a traditional, cosy dining room, where well-rendered versions of homegrown classics (merda de can, say) and the (more than) fairly priced wine list let you in on a local secret: you've stumbled across a real gem.

Despite all our instincts telling us to avoid this place, we went there tonight because of Time Out's effusive recommendation. The lesson? Trust your instincts. Acchiardo looks tacky and garlicky and desperately old-fashioned, and that's exactly what it is. The starters were passable, but the mains were not good at all - the overcooked swordfish slathered in glutinous lemon sauce a particular low point. The service was good but otherwise this place was a big disappointment.
