The 70-year-old Aero sets the standard for indie and art cinema fans in Prague. It programmes the best of festivals and other gems rather than relying on the dross that's pushed on to other cinemas by the handful of powerful local distributors. Luckily, the imports often have English subtitles (with Czech translations broadcast into headsets). On occasion, film-makers come along to introduce their films. The theatre is also an apt venue for several festivals. The cinema's bar has become a popular local hangout, but the downside is that noise sometimes filters into the theatre. Tickets can be booked in advance online.
