Though its dominance of the domestic league is periodically challenged by provincial upstarts such as Slovan Liberec and Baník Ostrava, AC Sparta remains the Czech football league's top team. Though it compares poorly to European teams such as Barcelona and Juventus, this hasn't stopped the team from pulling off some mighty upsets against wealthier opponents. Its 18,500-capacity stadium, known locally as Letná, hosts big international matches.
