The Cobalt's call for bands explicitly reads: 'Heavy shit preferred'. Managed by local legend Wendy Thirteen, the venue can accommodate 200 concert-goers and is the destination of choice if you prefer your music punishing and filed under punk, metal or hardcore. The decor is suitably decrepit and the drinks are undeniably cheap. Regular events include Scaryoke, experimental Fake Jazz Wednesdays and an alternative comedy night.

Its The Fauxbalt now.
The legendary Cobalt rock bar, its staff, patronage & manager Wendy Thirteen were unceremoniously evicted by the hotel's slumlord owner in favor of a dance club for the Olympic's. Vancouver is in need of a new rock venue.
Now the Cobalt is just a good place to throw eggs & tomatoes at.
No longer the famous Cobalt of Wendy 13, now just another sad plastic dj dive. Pass.
