Beloved Valley Mexican restaurant Casa Vega is 68 years young, and what better way to celebrate than with a little cross-border culinary action? On Tuesday, June 18th, the Sherman Oaks institution will host Michelin-recognized chef Javier Plascencia of Caesar’s in Tijuana, birthplace of the Caesar salad. (Yes, really.) The double anniversary event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Caesar salad, which was allegedly invented by Italian chef Caesar Cardini on July 4, 1924, with a joint prix-fixe menu. In addition to the original tableside Caesar salad, you’ll be able to enjoy Peruvian bay scallop ceviche, plus your choice of entrée and dessert. (Vegetarian options are also available.) One drink and a commemorative T-shirt are also included in each $125 meal ticket.

The latest adventurous performance from the Industry, this two-in-one show simultaneously stages a 17th-century opera and a 20th-century sci-fi story on a rotating stage. Director Yuval Sharon’s six-years-in-the-making production connects the stories of Claudio Monteverdi’s 1643 Italian opera L’incoronazione di Poppea (The Coronation of Poppea) with a world premiere production of W.E.B. Du Bois’s 1924 sci-fi short story The Comet; both unfold at the same time on a turntable that’s been split into two. The Industry has staged its pieces in cars and on a mountaintop; this time around, you’ll catch them at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, from June 14 through 23.

Everyone’s favorite NPR member station has a hand in a slew of summer concert slates at public plazas and beloved museums, and this summer’s schedule is particularly packed. Familiar KCRW DJs and local buzz bands will be providing free, open-air tunes on select nights from June through September at Union Station, CAAM, Descanso Gardens, Bowers Museum, Century Park, the Autry, KCRW’s Santa Monica headquarters and—our favorite—the party-till-midnight bashes at Chinatown Central Plaza.

House music hits the Queen Mary waterfront during this two-day fest. This year’s event, which features two main stages as well as another side one, includes the likes of Kaskade, MK back-to-back with Green Velvet, Cloonee, Mau P, and Nicole Moudaber back-to-back with Paco Osuna.

This epic (and free) outdoor concert series features live performances by artists from around the world at the totally overhauled California Plaza stage in DTLA, where the shallow water separating the stage from the audience has been replaced by a proper event lawn. Don’t miss a diverse and highly intriguing mix of bands, DJ sets and dance parties.
