At this event, children and adults can run or walk, and compete on their own categories. This year we are giving a trophy to the best Team Spirit and we encourage teams to design their own distinctive image. This is also a great opportunity for showcasing each team’s support for defeating breast cancer.
RFCA Ghana (www.runforacureghana.org) is a non-profit organization for the eradication of breast cancer in Africa. We are comprised of volunteers directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer who want to lessen the impact of this disease on the less privileged women of our community.
Our work focuses on three areas: educate, screen, and treat. Through the contribution of our sponsors and the work of our volunteers, RFCA have donated a new GE Alpha RT Mammography system and a 10KVA UPS to the San Martin de Porres Hospital, at Eikwe in Ellembelle, Western Region. To ensure continuity of service, RFCA has also donated extended maintenance service and is funding training to technicians and doctors in order to create a regional reference breast clinic. We will continue replicating this model across rural areas that otherwise will not have access to these medical services. We also provide funds to support the cost of treatment of economically challenged women that otherwise will not be able to afford it.
