This place has long been one of the go-to spots in Sant Antoni. It gained a loyal following thanks to the warmth, cheer, and strong neighborhood vibes created by its former owner, Rafel Jordana—a charismatic figure known as the “Buddha of Terra Alta.” He was the kind of bartender whose generosity and good-hearted nature felt almost too good to be true.
Although Rafel has since retired, he passed the torch to the Marsan family, the local owners of nearby Bar Borrell, who know a thing or two about neighborhood hospitality. They’ve inherited a lively, mixed crowd: young, bohemian regulars mingling with older locals, all united by a love of good food at great prices.
Expect hearty, homemade fare like meatballs, pigs’ trotters, salt cod salad (esqueixada), snails, and other daily specials made with fresh market ingredients. It’s traditional Catalan comfort food with soul—and a true neighborhood gem.
