Sónar, Barcelona's huge international electronica music festival, this year celebrating its 20th anniversary. One thing that's different this time round is a venue change, which will bring Sónar by Day to Montjuïc - a change, according to the festival directors, that doesn't reflect so much a desire to get more people in as to make those who do go more comfortable, and, even more important, a desire to "set new goals". The 20th-anniversary edition seemed to them the perfect time to do it, although the debate over whether Sónar  should be in the CCCB has been ongoing for the last 10 years.

Some of the highlights in the line-up include the 3D show of electronica pioneers Kraftwerk; British electropop duo Pet Shop Boys; American superstar DJ Skrillex; the return of hip hop group Jurassic 5; pop and electronica sensations such as Two Door Cinema Club, Bat For Lashes, Chromatic, AlunaGeorge, Sébastien Tellier, Nicolas Jaar, and Liars; the 10th-anniversary celebration of the label Ed Banger; acts a bit more on the risky side like Diamond Version, Francesco Tristano, and Dinos Chapman; and big names from the past, present and future of electronica including Paul Kalkbrenner, Richie Hawtin, 2manydjs, Diplo, Major Lazer, Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Lindstrom & Todd Terje, Modeselektor (DJ set), Maya Jane Coles, Justice (DJ set), Matthew Herbert (DJ set), Derrick May, Baauer, Darkstar, Vatican Shadow, Ólafur Arnalds, and Mykki Blanco, among heaps more. The local scene will also be well-represented with names like Pascal Comelade, ZA!, BRUNA, La Bien Querida, Bradien + Eduard Escoffet, Tiger Come Zebra, and EVOL, among others.
