If you haven't yet had the pleasure of sampling Japanese-Peruvian food, believe us when we say that you couldn't do better than a trip to Sipan, a cool, classy restaurant that continues to head the downtown gastronomic scene. Named after a tomb discovered in northern Peru in 1987, this atmospheric pisco bar/restaurant serves up sparklingly delicious cuisine that's both creative and market-fresh.
The selection of spicy appetisers is outstanding. You'll find choritos a la Chalaca (mussels mixed with corn and onion), octopus in olive oil and the creamy spud classic: papas a la huancaína. For mains, we suggest a combination of salmón al maracuyá (salmon with passion fruit), mixed ceviche, and one of the delicious tacu-tacus washed down with a passion fruit Pisco sour.
