One of the few restaurants to survive the suburban tedium that is Pinelands. The food is perfectly executed classic Italian fare - the pasta is cooked al dente and the dishes incorporate simple, traditional ingredients. The antipasti are a must, as are the fresh seafood and tender veal dishes.

For the first time I phoned to make a reservation at the Magica Roma and I dealt with a lady who wasn't very friendly and asked me questions about the reservation very rudely. Now I couldn't really care about going to Magica Roma.

Good ambience with some disappointments. Two of us ordered Norwegian salmon (R130) it was served with vegetables - one bowl of chunky carrots -a vegetable (singular). Instead of a plump filet of salmon with skin, it came as 2 thin end pieces, no skin - the kind a restauranteur keeps to add to his pasta sauces. The panzerotti was lovely but unlike every Italian restaurant I've ever been to, no accompanying grated Parmesan. In retrospect, I should have brought it up at the restaurant but as it was a birthday party, one is loathe to spoil the atmosphere.
