Restaurant or Bar with the Best Art Program

Lula Cafe
Too often the art in bars and restaurants leaves something to be desired. At best, it's palatable, helping to enhance the ambience. At worst, it's distractingly bad to the point you question the establishment's overall taste. Lula consistently elevates our expectations for what art in restaurants could and should be. Featuring gallery-caliber work curated by local artists Anders Nilsen and Marianne Fairbanks, the beloved Logan Square restaurant has featured—in 2013 alone—Fraser Taylor's minimal, textured canvases; portraits by Alex Cohen and landscape images by Jarmo Koponen; an intriguing collaboration between collagist Jordan Martins and designers/poster artists Sonnenzimmer; and, most recently, complementary works by Carrie Gundersdorf and Katie Loomis, both of whom draw inspiration from scientific imagery, particularly space.
