To create their eighth album, the Foo Fighters have gone high concept. Dave Grohl and his hirsute band traveled to eight American cities, to record eight songs, one in each town. Along the way, in these music-rich destinations like Austin, Seattle and, naturally, Chicago, Grohl interviewed local musical icons and collaborated with them in the studio. Here, the group brought Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen in to Steve Albini's Electrical Audio, and picked the brain of Buddy Guy. The process was filmed by HBO and turned into a documentary series, Sonic Highways, debuting this Friday at 10pm. To celebrate the launch, the Foo Fighters will hit the stage at Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville for a live concert stream, and rip into new single "Something from Nothing." Tickets are $20 and go on sale tomorrow at 10am. Good luck.
