Gavin Lee, Nick Blaemire join 'The SpongeBob Musical'

Additional casting for this summer's pre-Broadway tryout of The SpongeBob Musical was announced this afternoon, with Gavin Lee, Nick Blaemire and Danny Skinner taking principal roles.

Lee, a Tony nominee for Disney's Mary Poppins, will play Squidward, with Blaemire (Godspell, Dogfight) as Plankton and Skinner making his Broadway debut as SpongeBob's best friend Patrick Star. Juliane Godfrey, Jesse JP Johnson, Lauralyn McClelland and Allan K. Washington are new to the ensemble.

They join the previously announced Ethan Slater as SpongeBob Squarepants and Lilli Cooper as Sandy Cheeks, along with ensemble members Gaelen Gilliland, Curtis Holbrook, Stephanie Hsu, L’ogan J’ones, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Mark Ledbetter, Kelvin Moon Loh, Vasthy Mompoint, JC Schuster, Abby C. Smith and Jason Michael Snow. The SpongeBob Musical, conceived and directed by Tina Landau based on the Nickelodeon animated series, will play the Oriental Theatre June 7–July 3.
