Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. may be shutting down this year as several buildings at Broadway and Sheridan are facing the wrecking ball, but the theater's supporters and 46th Ward Ald. James Cappleman have made sure a marker will be left behind. Mary-Arrchie's longtime artistic director, Richard Cotovsky, was surprised Thursday evening with the dedication of the stretch of Sheridan Road between Broadway and Pine Grove Avenue, where Mary-Arrchie's Angel Island theater space has operated for nearly all of the company's 30-year existence, as "Honorary Richard Cotovsky Way."

Mary-Arrchie's final production in the space, a staging of David Mamet's American Buffalo, opened last night, featuring Cotovsky in the cast. It runs through March 6.
