It’s the most wonderful time of the year. On Wednesday, the team at Macy’s on State Street was hard at work, decking the halls and trimming the tree for the holidays. For decades, people have been gathering in front of the windows to ooh and aah over the sparkling lights and colorful, oversized decorations. This Saturday, Macy’s presents the 108th Great Tree Lighting and reveals the 48th annual holiday windows.

This year’s window theme is "Santa's Journey to the Stars” and shows us Christmas on other planets through the eyes of an adventurous child and accompanied, of course, by Santa. The official viewing of the holiday windows kicks off when the store opens this Saturday at 10am, and you can enjoy the window display until January 10.

The Macy’s Great Tree Lighting takes place at noon in the Walnut Room on the seventh floor of Macy’s at 111 N State St. Get there early to be one of the first to glimpse the 45-foot tree decorated with thousands of custom-painted gold ornaments.

Saturday’s festivities will also include an appearance by singer, songwriter and actress Jordin Sparks and 6-year-old Make-A-Wish twin brothers Ameer and Amar. Children can have their photos taken with Santa every weekend now through Thanksgiving and daily through December 24.
