School's out—time to put on a show. The next generation of Chicago theater makers, as represented by teen programs affiliated with larger theaters or in some cases companies entirely dedicated to developing youth ensembles, is on full display this summer, performing community-minded works both preexisting and original. Here's a quick guide to all the kids 'n' plays you can check out right now.

About Face Youth Theatre Ensemble: 15 Breaths
The youth ensemble of LGBTQ-oriented About Face Theatre presents a new work, devised by the ensemble, addressing generational divides in the queer community. July 23–August 7, various locations.

Albany Park Theater Project: Feast
The highly acclaimed, youth-oriented Albany Park Theater Project returns to the Goodman Theatre for its fifth summer showcase in the Owen Theatre, with an interview-based, ensemble-devised look at the culture of food in Chicago. July 24–August 16, Goodman Theatre.

American Theater Company Youth Ensemble: Greensboro: A Requiem
American Theater Company's youth ensemble, under the direction of Kelly O'Sullivan, performs Emily Mann's documentary play about a 1979 attack by the KKK on union organizers in Greensboro, North Carolina, that left five people dead. Through August 2, American Theater Company.

Free Street Theater: The Real Life Adventures of Jimmy de las Rosas
Free Street, an outlet for young Chicagoans to create ensemble-based, socially conscious work for nearly 50 years, stages a new superhero tale by Ricardo Gamboa set in Little Village. July 27–August 13, various locations.

{she crew}: Girl Riot
A writing and performance empowerment program for girls ages 12 to 14, {she crew} presents the culmination of its summer intensive, comprising short pieces that represent the growing-up issues its performers are facing in the city today. July 30–August 1, various locations.
