Dengue Fever

Excellent L.A. band Dengue Fever features a bunch of indie vets playing in the style of ’60s Cambodian rock music—but it's more spooky than kitschy. The group's coup was finding singer Chhom Nimol, a native of Phnom Penh who performed for the king and queen of Cambodia before moving to California, and sings in an intense, captivating quaver. The band is finishing up a new record, the follow-up to the ace Cannibal Courtship.
