HoZac Blackout Festival

Critics' pick
The Dictators

HoZac, the fine local purveyor of garage rock, throws its annual fete with its usual mix of unearthed punk icons and modern scuzz-pop merchants. The big name this year is the Dictators, the group that kicked off NYC punk with Go Girl Crazy! in 1975. By today's standards, the fantastic record sounds more like Grease than hardcore. Other acts include Counter Intuits, First Base, Shocked Minds, as well as locals Nones, Toupee, the Man and Rainbow Gun Show.
