The Texan indie veterans return to Chicago for a Taste of Chicago gig, led as ever by inscrutable frontman Britt Daniel. The deliciously stiff power-pop act keep cruising with new material from They Want My Soul, its first produced with Dave Fridmann. After the more deconstructed sounds of Transference, it seems as if Spoon wants to be biggest little band in American again. The new stuff is louder, punchier and funkier. Few bands have ever been this consistent.
