Some of Chicago's best chefs and bartenders face off at the fifth annual Common Threads Cook Off, a competition that challenges them to create a dish or drink inspired by the garden (fruits and vegetables), pasture (dairy), seed (grains), barn (meat and proteins) or barrel (cocktails). Participating restaurants include The Bristol, Charlatan, Sable, Perennial Virant and Table Fifty-Two, and attendees can sample all the offerings and cast a vote to pick the winning dish. The event benefits Common Threads, which offers cooking and nutrition programs to help prevent childhood obesity.
