Katy's Dumpling House (CLOSED)

The Naperville location of Westmont's sleeper hit features the same hand-pulled noodles and other dishes as the original. The decor, however, is more evocative of the previous tenant, Jin's Mandarin. But it's easy to overlook the cheap paper lanterns (and strangely neon orange egg drop soup) when the Szechwan beef noodle soup arrives with impossibly long al dente noodles studded with spicy chunks of meat. Sautéed string beans are addictive, crisp with a wrinkly exterior that speak to perfect deep-frying technique, and moo shu chicken is flavorful enough that hoisin sauce becomes superfluous. Weekday lunch specials are generously portioned, but we recommend stopping by for lunch on the weekends, when you can enjoy a cup of Chinese soybean milk on the house.
