Graduate student Castlewitz traces her pop-culture roots back to the days of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, when she enforced a strict “no phone calls” rule with her friends while the show aired. Now she regularly attends fan conventions, including the San Diego Comic Convention with her dad—her partner in pop-culture enthusiasm. Here are a few things she has her TV-, film- and pop-focused eyes on this holiday season.

My favorite budget stocking stuffer is… Lord of the Rings Mini Plush, $10 at ThinkGeek.com. “These are so adorable!”

If you must get a gift certificate, get it from…Target, Borders, Best Buy or Tiger Direct. “I stalk the sales for technology-related products.”

Please don’t get me any more…DVDs not on this list. “I have enough to catch up on for six months or so.”
