Despite its dead-centre location, the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is a remarkably calm, quiet and elegant spot. With impressive plasterwork, exposed brickwork and an imposing staircase, it's one of the city's best 18th-century Georgian buildings. Enjoy classical piano music in the background, sip a frothy cappuccino in a café overlooking the light-filled courtyard, or browse through a good selection of antiques and curios, shoe shops, a photography store and branches of French Connection and All Saints. The achingly hip Loft Market is on the top floor.
