This annual festival of outdoor arts, theatre, dance and family entertainment is consistently spectacular. Events take place at the Old Royal Naval College and other sites in Greenwich including St Alfege Park, also Canary Wharf, the Isle of Dogs, Woolwich and Mile End Park. Highlights of the 2011 festival include 'As The World Tipped', outdoor performance at Mile End Park (Jun 25 10pm), 'La Mirade Transparente', dance on a transparent stage at Canary Wharf (Jun 30-Jul 2), 'Dancing City', outdoor dance programme at Canary Wharf (Jul 2 1-5pm) and, returning this year to provide a festival finale, 'Les Girafes' by Compagnie Off, starting at General Gordon Square, Woolwich (Jul 2 9pm). Billed as a 'festival within a festival' is Greenwich Fair (Jun 24-26), a programme of outdoor performing arts at venues in Greenwich, including Ted Hughes's 'The Iron Man' by Graeae Productions in St Alfege Park (Jun 24 11.30am, 2pm & 7.30pm, Jun 25 1.45pm & 7.50pm, Jun 26 1.45pm & 4.15pm), 'Gravity', which recalls the nineteenth-century tradition of hill-rolling, in Monument Gardens at the Old Royal Naval College (Jun 24 6pm & 7.50pm), and 'All That is Solid Melts into Air', Tangled Feet's production about regeneration and change, at Greenwich Park Centre (Jun 24 9pm, Jun 25 3.45pm & 6pm, Jun 26 2.30pm & 6pm). Some events require tickets. See the festival website for the full programme.
