Curated London

Turkish artist Ayşa Erkmen’s site-specific installation comprises 11 hand-painted stage backdrops. Spaced evenly across the 90 metre long Curve Gallery, the backdrops rise and lower independently of each other. These unpredictable impediments force the viewer to decide whether to stand and observe or hurry through as one is lowering and risk missing the detail.
