Jack Smith: Cologne, 1974

The late performance artist created a piece at Cologne Zoo for Kunsthalle Köln’s ‘Projekt 74’ in the 1970s, which was documented for the New York-based magazine, Avalanche. Smith’s absurd performance, ‘Fear Ritual of Shark Museum’ is captured here in photographs by Gwenn Thomas and a film by Birgit Hein.
