Forced to leave his home and studio in Damascus and flee with his family from Syria, the painter turned to using the war torn landscape of his homeland as his canvas in a digital capacity. His superimposed image of Gustav Klimt’s ‘The Kiss’ onto a bullet-riddled building titled ‘Freedom Graffiti’, cleverly uses an iconic image from Western Art to comment on the destruction of Syria and it’s cultural heritage and mans capacity to destroy what it once served to create. These poignant images will be shown with his works that distort the symbols of public signage to echo the exodus of his homeland.
