An exhibition of objects and art works that showcase our capacity to adapt to our ever-changing environment. Taking the form of a trail around the museum, the exhibition explores different periods and perspectives to show the ways in which humans have responded (and will have to respond) to the changing world around them. Exhibits include a timeline display of lightbulbs, marking the completion of the phasing out of the incandescent lightbulb across the European Union at the end of 2012, an early electric car, the Bersey taxi, which appeared on the city's streets in 1897, a 14-metre-long wind turbine tip, a short film and accompanying installation about the coastal town of Jaywick by artists Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie, and artist collective Troika's 'Plant Fiction', which tells the stories of five fictional plants that have been genetically modified to improve the world around us.
