Its large front facing Brook Green, a peaceful rectangle of tennis courts and relaxation tucked behind the chaos that is Hammersmith, this rather grand, high-ceilinged Young’s pub is comfort itself. House plants, a fireplace and inviting sofas all contrive to create a faintly homely feel, although you’d love this much light and space in your own flat.
You can see halfway across the green from the picture windows, so pick a prime spot from which to sip your pint of Grolsch Blond, Bath Green Ale or Young’s own London Gold.
Entertainment comes in several guises: comedy nights, a book club, even salsa evenings. Neither the food nor the wine are anything to get excited about.
