  • Crown and Goose made me LOVE fish and chips. After trying fish and chips in a variety of restaurants I thought I just wasn't a fish and chips type of girl, but this place converted me. The atmosphere is very traditional pub, nothing fancy but there is a nice fireplace in the back. The waiter, Scott, is always a good time providing lots of laugh. Great place, not many tourists, and most importantly AMAZING food!

  • Excellent pub. Great manager and bar staff. Food used to be amazing few years ago, but lost it a bit now- Still a great place to meet up with friends during lunch or after dark...!

  • I've been here for pub lunches on a couple of occasions and have found the food to be really delicious, particularly the steak sandwich, which was made with juicy, tender pieces of perfectly cooked steak and served with amazing crispy potato things. I wish I lived nearer as would visit here more often. Have found the barstaff to be slightly sarcastic on one occasion but think it was meant in good humour. Would recommend the food highly.

  • Great atmosphere BUT was ripped off! Ordered bottle of Prosecco to be told they had a bottle but wasn't chilled so they delivered it to the table opened and in a wine cooler. Didn't think anything of it until the bill came - £40?!!!!! They had given us champagne. Didn't want a fuss at the family celebrations so payed up but mentioned it to the waitress who just shrugged. So be warned, watch what you ask for and check what you get. Badly done Golden Goose, very badly done.

  • I took my mother here for Sunday lunch today (14th November 2010), as I had heard it had a good reputation, but alas it did not come near to any place I want to eat at again. Firstly we were put on a table that in any other restaurant would have been used for the waiters to clear plates. But apart from the constant noise, sight and smell of plates being scrapped by our ankles, the roast beef was a disappointment on so many levels. Firstly the fantastic Yorkshire pudding was ruined (and the entire meal for that matter) by it being filled with hollandaise sauce. The sauce was mentioned on the menu but didn’t begin to prepare us for the butter rich ooze that filed the plate when I cut into it. Whenever hollandaise sauce is served in other gastro pubs it is brought to the table in a small jug so you can decide how much you wish to have on your plate. The Beef itself (we were told) was always served medium rare, when ours came to the table it was so rare I’m sure I heard a faint moo from the plate. As the beef was topside, and as I mentioned served very very rare, not only was it under cooked but it was tough. As we moved onto the braised red cabbage and roasted vegetables I thought I might have had better luck. Unfortunately the red cabbage was very watery and lip-stingingly acidic and the roasted potatoes were so ‘crisp’ on the outside that try as she may my mum couldn’t cut through it (and believe me she had plenty of practice on the beef). The two nice elements were the parsnip puree and medley of vegetables that were really good. I would not advise anyone to eat there. If you are in Camden Town pop in for a drink sure, but don’t think you’ll get a nice dining experience. Even after calling ahead to book a ‘nice table’ we were greeted with the show of waitresses calling chef’s arseholes and plates whipping by your ear every 10 minutes, and we weren’t at the worst table in the place.
