When cruising for a boozing in Soho, discreet members’ clubs don’t have the edge. Instead head for local rock ’n’ roll cornerstone The Intrepid Fox. Like the shadow of Mordor on Middle Earth – on the corner of Tin Pan Alley – it fills tourists with fear. But for its Orc-styled followers, here you can chug your body weight in cider and nobody will blink twice. It’s tackier than its smaller nearby cousin The Cro Bar, filled with gargoyles, skeletons and bar staff that look like Tim Burton extras, but that’s its hair metal-era charm.
