Having gone to the school next door to The Regent, I used to avoid this place like the plague seeing as it was the teacher's local watering hole! Now I'm grown up and a fully flegded adult (sort of), I now know what I've been missing out on all those years. Comfy leather chairs and cozy booths, delicious, hearty food, a wide selection of beverages- all there to welcome you in from the cold like a great big hug- no wonder the teachers loved it! With weekly pub quizzes and various sports being shown on the big screen, plus with the tube and train station's only a stone's throw away, this is a very popular local haunt and so it should be!

Good solid pub to watch the football with friends. They always show the football regardless of being on BT sport or Sky and have a range of big screens so you usually get a good view, something which is one of my main pet peeves with other sports pubs...

Classic yet delicious pub grub, friendly staff, large TV screens ideal for showing big sport matches and a twinkly lights and cosy sofas; The Regent in Balham is a local a cut above.

Don’t expect anything revolutionary, but if you are wanting a nice cold pint, or a cracking hangover roast, even a buzzing place to watch the footy, or just somewhere to catch up with friends, The Regent is a perfect south London pub. Reasonably priced, laid back and a hop, skip and a jump away from Balham station, you can’t really fault it. And with their aim to showcase the best of local live music at the weekends, it is not only enriching Balham’s culture, but is buzzy and upbeat enough for a cheeky Friday night out.

Top Tip: Their Sunday night pub quiz is always a right hoot, but make sure you email in advance to reserve team space.

A friend and I stumbled across this bar while looking for somewhere to try whilst meeting in Balham, off the main bustle of the high street, the pub was still quite busy for a Sunday night....probably due to a quiz night going on in the other room.

We were pleasantly surprised by our food options, my friend opting for a roast (big enough to feed two people) whilst I opted for a mushroom gnocchi...amazing! The staff member who served us was very attentive and let us sit down rather than ordering at the bar, he was quick to come around and ask if everything was fine and if he could get us anything else.

Having been a local to South London for the past three years, I was surprised I hadn't come into the Regent sooner. After our lovely evening in there with good food and wine, I'll definitely be going back again sooner rather than later!

Definitely a nice pub to check out if you're in the area!

Time will tell if the recent re-vamp of this popular sport-gastro-cocktail bar was worth it. A week into the newly renovated bar, it is proving as popular as ever. It is definitely a great venue to try for the upcoming Rugby World Cup - having 5 large projector screens!

Decent spirit list, not too many ales on tap and priced right for the area.

Major food envy when I ate there- I had the mushroom gnocchi, oozing cheesy goodness whilst staring at my partners venison and chorizo burger!

Service is great !

Went for a Sunday roast and the meat was fatty, Yorkshire pud was rock hard - very disappointing
